Why I do this

I spent more than 25 years in financial services, risk management and technology, designing new initiatives and getting them agreed. Management and leadership development too. That is where I learned, the hard way, that a good idea doesn't speak for itself. Somebody has to make the case, and most of us were never taught how.

I'm fascinated by the way we behave, so I studied psychology and worked with interesting people like the behavioural scientists at University College London's Centre for Behaviour Change. I built a cyber security training programme on what we learned, because the biggest security risk in any company is a person making a decision. It uses what we know about people to help protect them and the places they work.

Persuasion is the same science pointed the other way. When the Cialdini Institute was founded I was one of its founding members, and I'm now one of its Master Trainers and a Cialdini Certified Coach. I teach Dr. Cialdini's seven principles the way he teaches them, to people who need a yes on something real.

I make complex things clear and simple, and I like to inject a bit of fun. It helps the learning process, after all.
